Community college students often face unique challenges in introductory programming [1], particularly first-generation and working learners who balance coursework with jobs and family responsibilities [3]. To address these challenges, we piloted PyTutor, an MIT-developed LLM-powered tutoring system, in CSC101: Introduction to Python at Quinsigamond Community College. Surveys and grade comparisons between Fall 2024 (no PyTutor) and Spring 2025 (with PyTutor) reveal improvements in student confidence, positive perceptions, and modest grade gains. These results highlight the promise of AI tutors for scalable and equitable support in community college computing education.
