Teachers’ and Students’ Perception Towards Integration of Artificial Intelligence in School Curriculum: a Survey

Introduction- Artificial Intelligence (AI) refers to the ability of digital computers or machines to perform intelligent tasks. The term is frequently applied to modern systems, endowed with the intellectual characteristics of humans and the ways people use their brains to perceive, learn, reason and decide action. NEP 2020 also highlighted the role of technology in the advancement of the nation and recommended the integration of AI into the education system of India.

Purpose- The purpose of the research is to know the perception of teachers and students towards AI integration in school curricula.

Methodology- Descriptive survey method is used on students and teachers of (class IX-X), CBSE board of West Bengal, India. Data are collected through the Questionnaire tool and analysed using Percentages.

Finding & Conclusion - Students can connect learning to life outside the school. AI integration in the school curriculum is providing a student-centric learning approach and makes learning more joyful. On the other hand, AI also helps teachers in teaching, evaluation process and so on. With the integration of AI into the school curriculum students will be prepared for technological advancement and can cope with the changing needs of society. It is visualized that such a step would help to build a larger understanding of AI amongst the teacher and student communities.
