Paul Youngmin Yoo
Senior Research Associate

Paul Y. Yoo is a Senior Research Associate of the SCALE Initiative at Stanford University.

He studies education policy and childhood poverty to help expand and equalize opportunities. He brings together insights across disciplines to generate a synergistic understanding of complex problems, as reflected in his work on a randomized experiment of childhood poverty reduction, quasi-experimental evaluations of school choice policies, and an empirical study of theoretical trade-offs in educational opportunities within schools.

Prior to this appointment, Paul was an IES postdoctoral fellow at the Stanford Center on Early Childhood, the 2023 National Academy of Education/Spenser Dissertation fellow at UC Irvine, and a policy analyst at the RAND Corporation. Before concentrating on research, he spent five years teaching in classrooms and designing education programs.
