Biraj Bisht is a PhD candidate at the University of California, Irvine School of Education. His research examines how K-12 schools can make instruction and support more responsive to students’ needs. His tutoring work examines how districts can support sustained participation and effective instruction, and how program design and implementation influence reach and effectiveness across schools. He also studies how curricula such as Ethnic Studies shape students’ belonging, engagement, and learning, supported by a 2026 National Academy of Education/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship.
Previously, he was a Research Analyst at the Annenberg Institute at Brown University, where he also completed his M.A. in Urban Education Policy. He received his B.S. in Economics from the University of Oregon's Clark Honors College.
