Wanjing Anya Ma is a postdoctoral fellow with the SCALE Initiative at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education. Her research sits at the intersection of psychometrics, learning sciences, and human-centered AI. Her current work uses multimodal data to understand tutoring interactions and develops rigorous approaches to evaluating students’ longitudinal learning with AI.

During her Ph.D. at Stanford, Anya developed adaptive dyslexia screening tools and computational methods for simulating student responses to support test development. She holds a Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Technology Design with a minor in Computer Science from Stanford, an M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.S. in Computer Science and Teaching Chemistry 7-12 from New York University. Prior to her doctoral studies, she taught middle school science in Brooklyn, New York.
