Tye Ripma is a postdoctoral scholar at Stanford University’s Graduate School of Education. He uses organizational theory and qualitative and mixed-methods approaches to study policies and practices that advance high-quality, inclusive educational opportunities for students with disabilities.

Tye’s research examines state governance of special education and how state policies shape collaboration between general and special education actors across levels of the education system. As part of Stanford’s SCALE initiative, he is also exploring applications of generative AI to address pressing challenges in special education.

Before graduate study, Tye worked as a special education teacher, Board Certified Behavior Analyst, and technical assistance provider to state educational agencies. He earned a Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Planning from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.A. in Policy, Organization, and Leadership Studies from Stanford University.
