University of North Carolina Induction Program

The goal of University of North Carolina Induction Program was to improve student achievement by improving beginning teacher effectiveness & teacher retention through coaching of new teachers using edTPA rubric constructs. This work had impacts on the program leadership at 8 UNC campuses, 50+ new teacher coaches, 1200 new teachers in 45 districts across North Carolina.

Key Deliverables:

  • 1) Develop and deliver a training program to develop coaches’ understanding of edTPA rubric constructs. 
  • 2) Advise research partners on evaluation design
  • 3) Advise revisions to edTPA Understanding Rubric Level Progressions documents for the coaching purpose.
