Pai-rou Chen is a Social Science Research Professional at SCALE. She manages the Center’s international partnerships in Asia and supports the design, development, evaluation, and revision of the Center’s online/hybrid courses and deeper learning modules as well as in-person professional development workshops/institutes. She is part of the team that designed and developed Performance Assessment Resource Bank (PARB) to promote performance assessment nationally and globally.
Prior to joining SCALE in 2011, she worked with Dr. Milbrey McLaughlin and Dr. Joan Talbert for seven years at the Center for Research on the Context of Teaching at Stanford University to manage multi-year research evaluations, including the evaluation of Bay Area School Reform Collaborative Phase II, the evaluation of New Teacher Center-Ravenswood City School District Instructional Improvement Initiative, and the evaluation for the New Visions for Public Schools regarding its “SAM” model for school leadership development and inquiry-based improvement. She has also worked as Research Technician at the Human Investment Research at California State University in East Bay and Research Associate at California Child Care Resource and Referral Network in San Francisco. She has an M.A. in Education from Stanford University and a B.A. in Chinese Literature with a minor in Teacher Education from National Taiwan University.
